A woman claims she was injured after falling at the Alton Cracker Factory.
The lawsuit was filed in the Madison County Circuit Court by plaintiff Margaret Voke against Second Street Developments, LLC, doing business as Alton Cracker Factory.
The complaint alleges that Voke suffered a fall due to a defective ramp on the defendant’s premises. She claims the incident occurred during an evening gathering at the Alton Cracker Factory. Voke alleges the accessibility ramp lacked handrails and effective paint to signify changes in elevation, leading to her fall and subsequent fracture of her right humerus.
The lawsuit states that Second Street Developments knew or should have known about these dangerous conditions but failed to rectify them or warn guests about potential hazards. Voke alleges the defendants breached their duty by failing to inspect the property for unsafe conditions and not installing a handrail on the accessibility ramp.
Voke is seeking damages in excess of $50,000, plus costs of suit for medical expenses incurred from surgery and expected future medical costs, as well as for pain and disability resulting from the incident.
