A widow accuses several manufacturing companies of failing to warn her husband about the toxic effects of asbestos.
Nancy D. Camden, individually and as personal representative of the estate of Fred A. Camden Sr. filed a complaint on Sept. 7 in Madison County Circuit Court against 3M Company, CBS Corporation, Exxon Mobil Corporation and other companies.
According to the complaint, Fred A. Camden Sr.’s inhaled or ingested asbestos fibers emanating from certain products manufactured, sold, distributed or installed by the defendants. He was diagnosed with lung cancer in May 2018 and died two months later, the complaint states. The plaintiff claims the companies negligently included asbestos fibers in their products when adequate substitutes were available and failed to provide adequate warnings.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensatory and punitive damages of not less than $50,000 and all further relief that the court may deem appropriate.
