A shopper claims she was injured when a sign fell at the Granite City Walmart.
Eleanor E. Vaughan and Francis Vaughan filed a complaint on Nov. 21 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Walmart Inc.
The plaintiffs allege in their complaint that on Aug. 28, 2022, Eleanor Vaughan was at the Walmart in Granite City when an unsecured sign on a display bin fell on her. They claim she suffered an injury to her temple and eye, including impaired vision, as well as injury to her shoulder and other parts of her body.
The plaintiffs allege Walmart failed to provide a safe and proper place and negligently allowed an unsecured sign to remain on a display bin. They also allege Walmart knew or should have known the sign needed repair and that Walmart failed to inspect the premises or warn of the dangerous condition. The plaintiffs claim that a result of Eleanor Vaughan’s injuries, they incurred large medical bills and suffered other damages.
The Vaughans seek monetary relief of more than $50,000, plus interest and all other just relief.
