An independent contractor claims he was injured when the scaffolding he was using collapsed.
Anthony Jines filed a complaint on Sept. 19 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Kohrmann Bros. Masonry Inc., alleging the subcontractor failed to provide a safe place to work.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Aug. 8, he was working as a mason for the defendant on a job site at 1429 Pausch Road in O’Fallon when one of the defendant’s employees accidentally hit the scaffolding and caused it to collapse. As a result, Jines claims he fell to the ground and suffered injuries to his neck, back and left leg.
The plaintiff holds Kohrmann Bros. Masonry Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to inspect the scaffolding to determine if it was safe to use.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendant in a sum greater than $50,000, plus costs.
