A crash early Sunday morning resulted in 5 being transported to the hospital with serious to minor injuiries and the driver of one vehicle charged with DUI.
Illinois State Police District 5 Troopers responded to a personal injury crash between two vehicles at Route 53 and Manhattan-Monee Road. The initial investigation found the driver of a Chevrolet Colorado pick-up truck ran a red light going westbound on Manhatten-Monee Road. He hit the driver of another vehicle in the intersection. The driver that was hit had a green light going southbound on Route 53.
Thirty-two year old Matthew Hurta of Crete has been charged with aggravated driving under the influence and disobeying a traffic control device. His passenger was transported to St. Joe’s hospital with serious injuries. The driver that was hit suffered serious injuries and transported to Loyola Hospital. She also had two other women in her car and both were treated for minor injuries.
