A lawsuit alleges a patient at an Edwardsville nursing home suffered malnutrition due to neglect.
The lawsuit was filed by plaintiff Donald Bunk, acting as independent administrator for the estate of Alexis Bunk, in the Madison County Circuit Court against Edwardsville NH, LLC, doing business as River Crossing of Edwardsville, NH Operator Holdings VII LLC, Greystone Healthcare Management – Midwest LLC, doing business as Greystone Health, Emily Hammon, Helen Garner MD, and Melissa Jensen.
According to the complaint, Alexis Bunk was a resident at River Crossing of Edwardsville, a nursing facility. While there, Bunk allegedly received inadequate care that resulted in the deterioration of her health.
The lawsuit highlights that out of 98 possible meals that could have been documented for Bunk, staff only documented providing 39 meals. Additionally, they only documented four out of 15 opportunities for fluid intake. The plaintiff argues this lack of proper nutrition and hydration led to health complications, including skin breakdown and pressure ulcers.
The plaintiffs seek a judgment in excess of $50,000, plus all other relief the court deems just.
