A patient of Memorial Hospital in Shiloh has filed a lawsuit against the hospital and its employees, alleging they negligently performed her hysterectomy procedure.
Plaintiffs Angela and Mark Emring filed the lawsuit in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Katy Gray, M.D., Memorial Medical Group, LLC and Protestant Memorial Medical Center, Inc., doing business as Memorial Hospital – Shiloh, citing negligence.
According to the lawsuit, on June 24, 2021, Angela Emring admitted herself to the defendants’ care for a hysterectomy procedure. Emring alleges Gray, an employee of Memorial Hospital, negligently and carelessly failed to properly perform the procedure.
Emring claims that as a result of the defendants’ negligence, she has sustained serious injuries. She alleges her injuries have caused her to experience disability, disfigurement, pain, suffering and mental anguish. She also claims her injuries will impact her ability to lead normal life and earn income in the future. She adds that she has incurred substantial medical expenses and will continue to require the services of medical staff to recover.
Mark Emring alleges that as a result of the defendants’ negligence, he has been deprived of his wife Angela’s consortium, companionship and support.
The plaintiffs are seeking damages in excess of $75,000, plus court costs and any other relief the court deems proper.
