A patient alleges he received negligent care at Anderson Hospital’s emergency room, causing his heart condition to worsen.
James Harshany filed a complaint Oct. 21 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Mark Mason, M.D., and Anderson Hospital, alleging medical malpractice.
According to the complaint, Harshany went to Anderson Hospital’s emergency room at 9 a.m. on Dec. 17, 2019, due to severe chest pain. He claims that during his visit, he continually complained of persistent chest pain but was left untreated. Harshany alleges that at 12:47 p.m., he was found to have acute ST-Elevation myocardial infraction (STEMI).
Harshany alleges the defendants failed to order an additional EKG in the appropriate amount of time and failed to follow appropriate standards for his chest pain, which allowed his condition to worsen.
He alleges that as a result of the defendants’ negligent care, he required extensive medical treatment, surgical procedures, hospitalizations, rehab and diagnostic care.
Harshany seeks compensation of more than $50,000, trial by jury and all other just relief.
