A man claims he was injured when he fell to the ground after a dock ladder broke at a food processing facility in Chicago.
Jeff Schneider filed a complaint Nov. 24 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Ebro Foods Inc., alleging negligence.
According to his suit, Schneider was employed as a refuse collector for Waste Management. He alleges he was at Ebro Foods’ food production plant on Dec. 29, 2018, when he attempted to use the dock ladder. The ladder allegedly “broke away from the concrete,” became loose and caused him to fall to the ground.
Schneider claims he suffered personal and permanent injuries as a result of the alleged fall.
He alleges Ebro Foods was negligent in failing to exercise reasonable care. He also claims the defendant knew or should have known the ladder was in a dangerous condition, should have made “regular and reasonable” inspections of the ladder, failed to maintain and repair the ladder and failed to warn the plaintiff of the unsafe ladder.
Schneider seeks compensation of more than $50,000 and all other just relief.
