A trucking company and one of its driver face a lawsuit over an accident that led to injuries to the driver of another vehicle.
Lydia Jackson filed suit in St. Clair County Ciccuit Court against AMS Trucking and driver Reginald Sharp over the collision, which happened on Sept. 14, 2017.
Jackson stated in the complaint that she was driving south on I-55 near I-70 when the accident occurred.
A tractor trailer driven by defendant Sharp was also traveling in a southerly direction, the complaint states. It is alleged Jackson’s vehicle was struck in the right passenger side.
She claims to have suffered “severe and permanent injuries to her head, neck, back and body.”
The Record was unable to reach AMS Trucking for comment.
In her suit, Jackson claims that the accident was caused “directly and proxitnately” by acts of negligence on the part of both the driver and the company.
It is alleged that the driver, and by extension the company, according to the suit, “Negligently and carelessly failed to keep his tractor trailer under proper control.”
Further, the driver allegedly failed to keep a proper lookout for other vehicles on the road, failed to stay in the proper lane, and to see the plaintiff and her vehicle, which should have happened if he had been a “reasonably prudent person,” the complaint states.
